I thought it was a really interesting title, especially if you're into SaGa games. The open world aspect and multiple characters was pretty cool, and I definitely liked going out and finding quests to do (and the whole 'if you grind you screw yourself over/miss the game is incredibly overstated) in the world.
What I really liked most though was the depth of gameplay and the difficulty; even without the Fatestones, Saruin is hard, and many other battles demand strategy and mastery of utilizing skills, equipment, and talents. The gameplay has so much to it that it's almost too deep, you almost need to GameFaqs to research the game mechanics.
But I don't think it gets enough love, and for that matter, SaGa and Kawazu in general doesn't get enough love. Thoughts?

So yeah, I know the PS2 remake was not the most popular entry in the series. For whatever reason it's the game that got me hooked. The game is comparatively short for an RPG - a thorough play-thru can be over in twenty or twenty-five hours. It became my go-to diversion between other games, and I played four or five of the eight characters on original hardware. Then I didn't have a PS2 to play on for a long while and my intention to finish was set aside.

Flash forward to a few years ago when PCSX2 got me into nostalgia gaming. With that, a decent laptop and an adapter for a controller I replayed the Final Fantasy games and other old friends, and eventually tracked down RS:MG. Once more it was a fun run in between longer titles, with the nostalgia factor thrown in for bonus.
I didn't have my PS2 memory card, so I started over with Albert and played the characters in order. The replayability of the game has always impressed me; even knowing the plot by heart already, I enjoyed seeing different aspects of the story from the various main characters' perspectives. There's also building a unique team for each run and planning ahead on classes, spells, bonuses and weapons. The game gives a lot to a devoted fan. Download kitab ulama salaf.
There are big problems with the game too of course, such as the fact that whole sections of it seem incomplete. My nostalgia run brought up memories of frustration when I'd tried to figure out how to open that door in Frosthold Fortress (it never opens), and the boredom of running through the vast empty spaces that seem to come more frequently at the end of the game. The voice acting is often terrible, but the main characters and the minstrel are well done.
I tried to hit everything the game offers over the course of these runs, but I still didn't manage it. For some reason I never saw the opening scenes about Darque or Prince Neidhart in the eight games I played on PCSX2, though I do remember seeing them on original hardware. I managed to complete the more obscure quests like Who Am I? (both endings) and the sad woman stories that have to be tracked down early in the game. I even managed to take down the Jewel Beast a few times! Never could get Shirach or Death though, so some bosses have evaded me still.
I'm about to set all this aside for a long while, so getting that eighth run with Barbara has checked an item off the To Do list. You may know there is an extra post-ending scene with all eight characters that plays after completing them all (you can find it on YouTube) and it was a fitting farewell to a favorite old game. Thanks guys, you gave me a lot of fun and good memories.
